A house that is in need of major repairs and updating is often referred to as a “distressed” property. This could be a former rental or a trust sale where the home has not been updated for decades. Tear Down Properties

Sometimes a house has been so severely neglected and distressed that it is referred to as “tear down” property.  Sellers in these cases are often trustees who do not want to put any money into fixing up the property because they believe it can only be marketed for the land value.
